BEST WISHES FOR A VERY HAPPY NEW YEAR!

We send our best wishes for the New Year to our friends all over India and the world! As we welcome the new year, we extend our thanks to all those who have supported our work in so many different ways. There are those who managed our Center on a day to day basis, those who helped us run our online programs, those who created and managed our website, those who translated J Krishnamurti’s books into Bengali, those who published our Bengali books and those who took part in our programs. There are so many more to thank; the list is quite long.

There are also many friends who have been deeply touched by the life and teachings of J Krishnamurti. One such friend is Gautam whose profession is film and video production. He has produced a short four minute video which he says has been inspired by J Krishnamurti. It is his way of wishing humanity a truly happy new year. Though the video is just four minutes, a lot of energy has gone into producing this video. Our sincere thanks and congratulations to Gautam, his wife Mun Mun and their whole team which supported this sensitive effort. Am sharing the video link with you below.

As we look ahead, it is worth reflecting on what a new year should be truly all about.

‘I wonder what we mean by a new year. New. Is it a fresh year, a year that is totally afresh, something that has never happened before? When we say something new, though we know there is nothing new under the sun, when we talk about a new and a happy year, is it really a new year for us? Or is it the same old pattern repeated over and over and over again? Same old rituals, same old traditions, same old habits, a continuity of what we have been doing, still are doing, and will do the same thing this year.

So, is there anything new? Is there anything that is really afresh, something that you have never seen before? I think this is rather an important question, if you will follow it – to turn all the days of our life into something which you have never seen before. That means a brain that has freed itself from its conditioning, from its characteristics, from its idiosyncrasies and the opinions and the judgements and the convictions. Can we put all that aside and really start a new year? It would be marvelous if we could do that.’

J Krishnamurti. Chennai. 1995
