Purulia Book Fair 2023. The Fair was inaugurated on 21 December and ended on 27 December. The Kolkata Centre of Krishnamurti Foundation India had its stall at the Fair and as always it was a delightful experience. The interest in the books of J Krishnamurti has been extraordinary.
Every book fair is different. At Purulia, Bengali books of J Krishnamurti were more in demand though English books too followed close behind. Recently in November, the Centre also participated in the Jamshedpur Book Fair where Hindi books of J Krishnamurti were in demand as much as English books
Regardless of the online avenues available to buy books, there will always be a special place for book fairs. It is an opportunity for people to browse through books and talk to the Centre staff about them. There is nothing like getting the feel of a book before buying it. Also being able to engage in a conversation about it.
We will be the Bankura Book Fair from 2 to 8 January. And of course we will also be at the Kolkata Book Fair from 18 to 31 January. So, plenty to look forward to in terms of interaction with new friends who visit us at our stalls. The winter is after all the season for book fairs.
