We were able to have our first gathering at the Kolkata Centre in quite some time on Sunday 27 February. A sign that normalcy is returning. Children are returning to school and are absolutely delighted. As one walks around, the roads, the shops, the traffic all seem to suggest that the fear of the pandemic is receding. At our Centre, we had a gathering of 15 and that is always just about the right number for a dialogue, an interaction. It was so good to see new friends join the dialogue and also so good to see that younger people were in a majority! Just two participants were above 60!
We explored our own individual life journeys in relation to the teachings and our understanding of the teachings. The inspiration came largely from the need to deepen our understanding to a point where we no longer depend on quotes. A point where we may begin to speak and live from that depth of our own understanding.
Seeing a video of a one hour public talk by J Krishnamurti ( 4th talk at Ojai 1983) was the perfect way to end the morning. The talk was exceptionally beautiful: To watch without any movement of thought. For those who have not seen this video, here below is the link.
Our discussions continued over lunch and indeed some stayed on till late afternoon. Some bought books or browsed through books in the library. Others talked informally about how to live rightly in an insensitive world. All in all, a good start to our normal programs at the Centre after being derailed for a couple of years due to the pandemic.
