RISHI VALLEY RETREAT 22 TO 26 NOVEMBER 2019

There are so many people to thank for the wonderful few days that our group of 17 ‘pilgrims’ spent at Rishi Valley during our Retreat from 22 to 26 November, 2019. Planning for this had begun in March. It was a varied program that had a mix of everything….plenty of free time and also video screenings, discussions, interactions with students, visits to the rural school and health centre and finally a visit to the house in Madanpalle where J Krishnamurti was born.

We were all so delighted too to interact with the teachers and students of Rishi Valley School. Thanks also to our Centre friends who travelled long distances from Chandigarh, Bhopal, Pune, Santinketan, Purulia and Kolkata to participate in the retreat.

This was a very memorable Retreat for all of us and also a landmark one too. It brought to our minds this beautiful excerpt from J Krishnamurti.

'If we could take a journey, make a pilgrimage together without any intent or purpose, without seeking anything, perhaps on returning we might find that our hearts had unknowingly been changed. I think it's worth trying. Any intent or purpose, any motive or goal implies effort - a conscious or unconscious endeavour to arrive, to achieve. I would suggest that we take a journey together where none of these elements exist. If we can take such a journey and if we are alert enough to observe what lies along the way, perhaps when we return, as all pilgrims must, we shall find that there has been a change of heart.'
