The workshop was facilitated by two young persons, Ali Sanwarwalla and Fatema Sanwarwalla who work in Mumbai. They are the founders of Joie De Vivre Education and work with schools, colleges, communities and individuals in holistic self-exploration. Both have been greatly influenced by the teachings of J Krishnamurti. We chose the theme ‘Beyond Emotional Intelligence’ because so many discussions that happen on the topic of intelligence are limited to IQ and EQ. Both appear to have their limitations because they are used, in whatever measure, by thought, by motive and by self-centric activity. J Krishnamurti spoke of an Intelligence that is untouched by thought, by self, by motive. He spoke of an Intelligence that is synonymous with Love, with Compassion. All this provided the backdrop for the workshop.
I do agree that the need of the hour is “Intelligence that is synonymous with Love, with Compassion”; a mindset and an attitude of collaboration and cooperation rather than competition and confrontation and work with complete honesty of purpose rather than agenda driven service.
