ROOT OF FEAR

At the suggestion of a friend, our dialogue interaction at our Centre on Sunday 23 November was on the theme ROOT of fear. Participants shared their own experience of fear and we then saw a video ‘Observing the root of fear’. Click here to watch the video.

We are sharing below some reading material on the theme. Quite comprehensive and worth a read. Click here to read the article.

It was a lovely interaction as friends shared their experiences with candid openness and honesty. The short 20 minute video that we already saw brought it all together nicely. It appears that the key factor in the dissolution of fear is ‘pure’ observation where the observer (‘me’) is absent. Also, an observation where there is no motive.  I recall a lovely quote ‘protect yourself from your own thoughts ‘. Seems so apt given the fact that psychological fear owes its ‘existence’ to thought. Does fear exist without the sustenance provided by thought?

It appears that thought has two dimensions. One is a dimension where it is a response from memory, from the store house of accumulated hurt, pain, grief, ambition or whatever. So, there is no hope of breaking new ground. It functions within the prison of its own accumulation, a prison of its own making.

The second dimension is where the entity is completely able to use the faculty of thinking from a ground which is truly free from the past. From a ground where there is zero distortion. From a ground where one can see, and respond to, what is.

We will soon be planning our online dialogue by early December. If there is any particular theme in the teachings that you would wish to explore, please share your suggestions. The delight in these interactions comes when there is a real interest to explore the teachings.
