KOLKATA BOOK FAIR 2026

The curtain came down on the Kolkata Book Fair on 3 February, 2026. The 13 day event from 22 January to 3 February 2026 was hugely popular and showed that book lovers are still plenty in the city of Kolkata. Bengal loves books, music and also all the fun that comes with all this. One sees families visiting the Fair together. For us, our stall saw a regular flow of visitors on all days. The interactions were curious and intense. Book sales and footfalls are relevant only in the context of the larger contact with people. So, we value the fact that book sales at our small stall were very decent and an estimated 700 books and booklets were bought by buyers. Many book stocks were exhausted! Kolkata Book Fair 2026 concluded with a record-breaking footfall of approximately 32 lakh visitors marking a 15% increase from 2025.

For us at J Krishnamurti Study Centres in cities, being able to reach out to so many people and enable access to the beauty of J Krishnamurti’s insights is what counts most. The Kolkata Book Fair provides a great platform for that connect and access. Of course, nothing works without the efforts of a team that is happy to do all it takes in such a big event. Our Centre team of Ramen Das, Jaydeep Basu and Surojit Das are the people who made it all happen.
